How space can be used.
A open area hotel in Queenstown. Having been there, It is a very nice area to relax. The rooms are small houses in little clusters scattered over a field. Their events center are small stone houses with dining tables that can be re purposed. As its Queenstown, they like to showcase the open areas with the 360 panoramic view of the Southern Alps and food.
This website is based around their main image. The menu works around it. This shows all the venue sites in Rotorua. But as Rotorua is mainly a touristy destination, It still tries to sell the 100% pure NZ with outdoor views that flow inside. As the CoCA building is trying to keep the outdoors out, Its not really an ideal example.
I started to look at places that may have large spaces with limited outdoor access but still compact enough to fit into a multistory building. I came across leased spaces in New York. The thing i like about these websites, is that they showcase the space and what it could be used for. Very few photos of food or just people. They also give the floor plan which I think is a nice touch.
Midtownloft has a nice minimal website with a virtual tour; a 360 degree interactive photo. This is similar to what I would like to achieve for the new building. They also give a list of everything available in the room and a floor plan. All in all, I think this is the best example of what I want at least 1/2 of my website to be.
The slideshow on the main page speaks to the potential user by the superimposed words over the different uses of space. The area is actually quite small if you look hard enough but it’s 2 tiered and I suppose space is a luxury in NY. Its also similar to the Pit at the moment without the seats.
These come from a website that allow you to choose a venue based on what you want it for (wedding, conference, fashion show, gallery) and the number of people you want to fit in it. I picked these because I could see them fitting in with how the studio and gallery area might be used.
Most major hotel chains (Hilton, Hyatt, InterContinental, Carlson) will have a large area that people can rent out. These areas are ballroom sized and can either be fully enclosed or have indoor/outdoor flow, depending on the location. I.e, Singapore will probably have a fully enclosed area to regulate temperature and humidity.
